The full moon that is outside your window tonight… that’s the full moon we closed the Odeon under 6 years ago.

A lot has happened in 6 years…  our young doorman Phoenix now has a family and 3 children and is the captain of a ship. Camilla married Kirk, passed the bar and now does social work and books art shows at Good Vibrations. Windy still flirts with me over the internet. She lives in Miami and surfs full time. Ben Burke now owns a 60’ sailboat that takes much of his time, he juggles art projects and has become his mutten chops. Tyler  got an audio engineering degree, and is doing what he loves.

Robin Froardt lives in NYC and is a professional puppeteer. For real! Flash is exactly the same, of course. Jashca is now is school for cognitive phycology, retired from conducting and arranging music. He’s just 30 now. Ena has retired from trapeze and now is a Pi

lates instructor and works with kids to some degree, I’m to understand. I saw that she choreographed a play with Zoli, Freddi and that whole lot just a few months ago. Simone has a fine daughter named Emma Danger. She runs the robot wars battle-bat bullshit and lives in Marin. Blessed be. Neives married the mighty and powerful Dan Rathbun from Idiot Flesh, they have a child name Jasper who is amazing. She dove head first into her body care products and is making a comfortable living and spends half her time in Portrollia. With apple trees and goats and such. And what of Jenner, you say

Jenner works in a lab at Genentech, loosely related to curing cancer. Jenner is experimenting with photography as a creative outlet. One of her shots hangs proudly on my wall.

I’m sure I’m missing a few, but I’ve gotta get going, there is work to be done…

The Odeon was a dream. It was a long shot that happened. A guy like me could buy a bar  with borrowed money and social capitol? And make good? Pay all the debts, give the old owners a pile of cash and keep a few people alive for a while whilst making some art that changed the world? Did we really do that?

Yup. We did. And we shut it down one night under a full moon before it became irrelevant. We should be proud of that old bar, and what we did there. The shows, the ideas. The carnage. The spankings. The idiocy. The bottlerockets flying out of people’s butts. The All Homeless Review. The Puppet Months. Jason Webly. One Man Pirate Musical. The many variations of kareokie. And of course the Ask Dr. Hal Show. Which you can see tonight, if you wish. Raise a glass to that magical little place in the deep mission…

This email list is that of Showman Chicken John Rinaldi of San Francisco. You can keep up with his shenanigans and opinions by being on this list. If you would like to be included in a list to announce shows, that would be on the SFIOP.org site. This is for personal writing and such. He posts a few times a week at most. You sound much more important when you speak about yourself in the 3rd person. At least I do when I talk about me as 'him'.
