So it's no secret that Dolores Park is a super cool place to go It's also no secret that the department that has been allocated budget and given city resources to protect and be a steward to our parks is an organization that is corrupt top to bottom and needs to be gutted and the commissioners need to go to jail for treason for crimes against parks They batter parks Abuse them They sell them off to their food snob friends They close them They make sweetheart deals, squander their budget and then show a deficit so they can act with impunity Slimeballs, the lot of them We will deal with them later For now, we have been POURING time and energy into just Dolores Park Which is slated for a make-over soon, did you know that? They wanted to close it for the overhaul For a while We said no So they tried to sell spaces for stores We said no Now they have ceased all communication and are stonewalling

Actually, they asked McDonalds for a proposal And Wendy's And Burger King Jamba Juice Here's a fucking list of the business' that Rec and Park asked to put a food truck in our park on our green grass, crank up an genny and get their logo in everyone's park photos for $1,000 a month:

Claiming that I threatened BB and that's why they didn't put a trailer in the park Which is a big fat lie But it's OK As long as there is no store in the park you can call me a liar For now The article claims that RPD is all about food carts and the culinary delights and bla bla bla This is the same guy who just invited Wendy's to open a taco truck in our park Douche-o-matic

We went to a hearing Were we spoke and brought 80 people with us All asking for them to just stop the process, and lets talk about it We wanted some input They shut us down like we were kidding

We have the power to get rid of these people and I think that is exactly what we should do if they continue down this path they are on They have been so protected by Newsom for so long they forgot THEY WORK FOR US!!!!!!! Maybe that will change Maybe they aren't as bad as we think they are Maybe they just need time to adjust to having oversight But if things don't change quick, we will start collecting signatures to put legislation on the ballot to get the people to vote that the Board of Supes selects the commissioners, not the mayor And the Supes will sack the lot of them in the first moment it ratifies And fire Ginsburg

But it doesn't have to come to that All they have to do is NOT SELL THE PARKS THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PROTECTING

Dear friends, colleagues, family, acquaintances and lovers of Dolores Park,

I’m writing to you today to ask for your support of a new organization I am co-founding with help from some other Dolores Park community members It’s called: Dolores Park Beauty, Leisure and Arts Council I love that name You can just picture yourself spending a leisurely art-filled day surrounded by beauty? I’ve had these days in Dolores Park I know you have too

Our mission statement is still being nailed down, but it goes something like this: Dolores Park Beauty, Leisure and Arts Council’s mission is to promote leisure and facilitate arts activities in Dolores Park while also improving and preserving its beauty Yeah, I know, it needs work

We are working on finding an appropriate fiscal sponsor, but right now, this very minute, the board needs your commitment in the form of seed money so we can keep doing this work This money will help us cover start up costs for the organization, including hiring Crystal Vann Wallstrom, a tried and true Dolores Park advocate, to get the organization up and running She’s been doing Dolores Park advocacy and beautification work for the last year for free, and now it’s time for her to get a paycheck, and for us to show the community and Rec and Parks that we are serious

If you know me, you know that I wouldn’t ask you for money if this wasn’t legit and a concerted effort to take care of our park There is a lot of work to be done There are serious issues surrounding Dolores Park, its use and its design in the near future Our own Rec and Parks Department is over taxed and having a budget crisis If we don’t step forward to alleviate some of the stress, we are all going to be very disappointed in the decisions that are made and the process’ (or lack thereof) that will occur

We are not the only neighborhood to start a group to protect and fortify our park We can make a difference by getting involved and organizing A big difference There is a reason Dolores Park is such a destination It is a jewel DP acts as a beacon for our values, our individuality, our celebrations, and our day to day lives Let’s be heard Let’s organize our voices and make a difference for Dolores Park
