Chicken: Thomas Jefferson, wine snob, birthday greetings...

April 13th 2015

"Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude." Thomas Jefferson So he wasn't perfect. He would have been 283 today. He was a complex person who's actions didn't always calibrate with his words, but the times were different back then. And who knows what's true anyway. I hope that he said at least some of the amazing shit thatis accredited to him. He didn't like Jesus so much... Here is another good one: &q ...Continue Reading

Chicken: Fallen Cosmos: it's up to YOU now...

February 2nd 2015 Here’s what we just did: we changed the way people consume arts/entertainment experiences. In one fell swoop we took the commerce part out and what we ended up with was nothing short of sublime. 700 people in a room and not one of them paid a dime to be there. OK< so there were a few people who bought each other tickets and 2 people who successfully cheated. We let them - to experiment with the system and ridicule them later. Imagine you a ...Continue Reading

Chicken: and now, a message about fish...

January 9th 2015

27 years ago in New York City I ran a van company. Punk rock idiots driving around NYC in the worst vans you've ever seen. Moving people, delivering things, bringing bands to their shows, paintings from galleries to studios, getting comics from the airport to the stores... we were all in bands, playing music and working days keeping NY moving. I had a truck and a few vans. Like 4 or 5 employees. It was hard. But the phone would ring. A lot. I had more jobs than I could do. I used to give jobs to other, smaller guy ...Continue Reading

Chicken: Merry Christmas from Donny the Punk

December 24th 2014

There are always new people on my mailing list. People who don't know that every year on Christmas, I take time to remember a fellow named Donny the Punk. He was a cool guy. He did a lot of stuff. Stuff I never knew when I knew him. He was one in a billion, but he came in a really weird vessel. Of course, we never appreciated him when he was alive. He was just a weirdo. He died 18 years ago. If you have 10 minutes and want to meet an inspiring person, you can do worse then clicking on this link: http://en.wikipedia.or ...Continue Reading

Chicken: The story of Margaret Rucker this Saturday Castro Theatre

December 16th 2014

The following is the contribution to the book that was released last week called Margaret. In the book is the scrapbook I found, this essay by me, an essay by Jason Webley, a CD with 12 songs, all the words to all the songs the musicians used and some other stuff. This project has been a dream come true. Telling this story is like a dream. Crazy serendipity to make it all work and the mysteries all getting solved are just crazy. In Jason's essay and at the show this Saturday night at the Castro, the mysteries will be ...Continue Reading

Chicken: Today is the day...

November 28th 2014

Today is the day that the 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons Dungeon Masters Guide came out: I bought my copy at my local game store: Fuck Amazon. I don't mind buying used books from there, but not new ones. I like having a local game store. I like going there and seeing kids playing Magic the Gathering. I like that it's possible that I could run a game there, even though I know I li ...Continue Reading

Chicken: This Is Burning Man 10th anniversary Edition

November 19th 2014

So the cyberworld was a-buzz with musings of what the newest Simpsons' episode was going to be like when they took a trip to Burning Man. Then, the day after it aired, no one was talking about it.   Why is that, you may ask? Well. You’ll have to watch it yourself…   You can buy it here for $1.99. Because making cartoons isn't free:   It’s hands down the worst episode of the Simpsons ...Continue Reading

You have just under two hours to give the people you know a magic ticket.

October 15th 2014

There are still a few tickets left, but we are close to selling out. When the tickets are gone, they are gone. If someone is going to see the Cosmos Fall on January 31st, 2015 you have -/2 hours to get them a ticket. I wish I could entice you to get involved by explaining how awesome it will be, but I can't. Even the people IN THE SHOW don't know everything. The things they think they know may or may not be true. Actually the whole concept of "reality" is in dispute here... But what is a simp ...Continue Reading

Chicken: Message

October 14th 2014

I wrote a piece for John Law’s Cacophony Book/encyclopedia thing. He cut it in half and printed it without editing it. One of the parts he left out was a list I made about where my experiences with the Cacophony Society took me. Where the rubber hits the road, so they say…  this list is neither complete nor in any order. But at the last Fallen Cosmos meeting (hundreds of artists and performers will co-create the experience) I thought that I will definitely have to update this list after this thing. So I thoug ...Continue Reading

Chicken: Checking in on the Fallen Cosmos...

October 11th 2014

OK, so you know that we are throwing an experience based adventure show on Jan 31st 2015 akin to the All Worlds’ Fair, yes? This event is something you gift to someone else. You may NOT purchase tickets for yourself for this event. We will know. We have ways.   Giving any information about this event will on take away from the experience, so we have decided to give none. But this is not the problem you may think it is. It’s way more…   On the whole, what we need is less information ...Continue Reading

This email list is that of Showman Chicken John Rinaldi of San Francisco. You can keep up with his shenanigans and opinions by being on this list. If you would like to be included in a list to announce shows, that would be on the site. This is for personal writing and such. He posts a few times a week at most. You sound much more important when you speak about yourself in the 3rd person. At least I do when I talk about me as 'him'.
