"Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude." Thomas Jefferson

So he wasn't perfect. He would have been 283 today. He was a complex person who's actions didn't always calibrate with his words, but the times were different back then. And who knows what's true anyway.

I hope that he said at least some of the amazing shit thatis accredited to him. He didn't like Jesus so much... Here is another good one:

"Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch toward uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one-half the world fools and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth."

One of the first vocal objectors to slavery (although he owned hundreds of slaves), he fucked with the crown and taunted Napoleon. What an amazing time...

Anyway, the first of so many things. Making it up as they went. Was it him who stole the Corsican constitution and claimed it for America? Probably. He was a wine freak and knew all about the different area's of France and other wine regions. He was an innovator. And a pain in the ass.

We could use an innovative pain in the ass right about now...

anyway, happy birthday to Thomas Jefferson. For whatever that is worth.

This email list is that of Showman Chicken John Rinaldi of San Francisco. You can keep up with his shenanigans and opinions by being on this list. If you would like to be included in a list to announce shows, that would be on the site. This is for personal writing and such. He posts a few times a week at most. You sound much more important when you speak about yourself in the 3rd person. At least I do when I talk about me as 'him'.
